My childhood was spent with the sound of the sea on pebbles: the soothing waves rolling on the stones and then that reluctant dragging of the pebbles back out by the tide. I enjoy these sounds again now that I have recently returned to East Devon after many years abroad. I continue to be captivated by the landscape and coastline of the area. Stones with their endless variety of shape and colour have always been of significance to me, a symbol of place. I collect them wherever I go.
